Library Closures
The Downtown & East Flagstaff Libraries will be closed Monday, Jan. 20th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Adult & All-Ages Events
Wily Writers. Weekly writing group. Every Wednesday at 6:00pm Downtown Library Northwest Corner. Make writing a habit with practice! With the use of prompts, time allotments, and group sharing, Wily Writers will learn more about their writing and support others along the way. You bring your writing tools and we'll bring the fun!
Bagels & Business: Data Axle Reference Solutions. Thursday, January 23rd 9-10 AM. Join Bill Carlson from Data Axle for a tutorial on how to navigate the library’s free business database, Reference Solutions. Great for small businesses or new businesses in the area. Attendees will also learn how to identify the ideal geography of potential new customers, learn key contacts, research businesses and their competitors, and much more. East Flagstaff Community Library.
The Knitting Hour. Want to learn to knit? Need help with a knitting project? Members of the Fiber Artists of Northern Arizona Guild are available to help! All skill levels welcome! Fourth Friday of each month 1 to 3pm Downtown Library Northwest Fireplace.
Help Us Decorate the Plaza! Join us in a communal art project each season! In winter, we’ll be making pinecone garlands for the Library’s front plaza! All supplies will be provided. Friday, Jan 24th 4:00-5:30pm Downtown Library Community Room.
We now have a Puzzle Exchange Station! (Near Downtown Information Desk, around the corner from culture passes). Take a puzzle, leave a puzzle! :) This is a spot for community members to share puzzles with each other. Feel free to take a puzzle to keep or bring back for others to use!
Book Clubs
Southwest Reads Book Club. A Walk in the Park. January 22 6:00pm. Two friends, zero preparation, one epic odyssey through the heart of the Grand Canyon. 4th Wednesday of every other month Downtown Library Community Room.
Poetry Book Club. Join us every other month to discuss poetry. Stick around (if interested) for writing exercises afterwards! February 6 @ 5:30 PM Information Desk by Robyn Schiff. Pick up a copy of the book at the Downtown Information Desk and meet in the Northwest Corner!
Senior Book Club at the Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center. Feb 10th* @ 1:00 PM. *Special date due to Presidents’ Day*. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Upcoming: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Garbielle Zevin on March 17th.

Winter 2025 Storytimes at the Flagstaff Downtown Library. BABY LAP TIME Jan 14 - Mar 4 Tuesdays @ 9:15 am Enjoy songs, stories, fingerplays, knee bounces, rhymes and more with your infant. TODDLER TALES Jan 14 - Mar 4 Tuesdays @ 10:00 am Your toddler will delight in this special time for stories, songs, games and more. PRESCHOOL EXPRESS Jan 15- Mar 6 Wed & Thurs @ 10:00 am Surprises galore are in store when we get together for stories, songs and games. SATURDAY STORY STOP Year-round @ 10:30 am Come to a fun-filled morning of storytime for ALL ages. *programming pauses Mar 10-14 for Spring Break.
Crafty Corner. Express your creativity at the East Flagstaff Community Library! Every other Tuesday, Jan 21st, Feb 4th & 18th, & March 4th from 3:30 - 4:30PM. This kids program is for ages 3+.
Bards & Nobles. Dungeons & Dragons for Teens. Winter 2025. Ages 12-18. Wednesdays 3:30-6pm, Weekly, January 15th - March 5th. Downtown Public Library. Registration required (click image).
Makers’ Lab. Winter 2025. Join us to design, build, and make at the library! Explore! Be creative! Make! Wednesdays January 22nd February 5th & 19th March 5th 3:45 - 4:45 PM. Ages 3+. Downtown Library.
Game Day 2025. Thursdays Jan. 16 – Mar. 6 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Ages 8-17. Video games & tabletop games! East Flagstaff Community Library.
Game Time, Hang Time. Join us for friends, games, and snacks! VR headsets, Switch, PS5, and board games! Every other Friday @12pm Jan. 24TH, Feb. 7th, Feb. 21st, and Mar. 7th 2024. Ages 8-18.
Friends of the Library
Become a Friend to the Library. How Our Group Helps? We raise money to help support our library system and their many programs. How Do We Raise Money? Membership Dues, Year-Round Book Sales, Special Annual Book Sale, Merchandise Sales, Generous Donations. We also host a special event for local authors. At this event, the Copper Quill Award is presented to a local author chosen by past Copper Quill winners. Benefits to You: Support your library, Early Access to Members Preview Day of Annual Book Sale, 25% off books being sold through Friends at the library.
Technology Help
Free Technology Instruction and Resume Help. 30-minute,one-on-one instruction sessions available for help with introductory software, creating email accounts, downloading eBooks, résumé development, online job applications, and more. Click here to see available dates. Registration is required for all sessions.
