FLAGSTAFF — The Flagstaff Blues and Brews Festival has again teamed up with the Flagstaff Arts & Leadership Academy for its annual event. Peak Events LLC, organizer of the festival, announced that it will donate a portion of its proceeds to the charter school’s music program.
Each year Peak Events selects an organization that strives to give local children better access to music and all arts regardless of income. Last year FALA received more than $10,000 from the proceeds, which it used to purchase and repair instruments and sound equipment along with sheet music and other materials, said Eli Cohen, FALA’s Executive Director.
“With the expansion to sixth grade and an influx of students in other grades, our population has shown significant growth,” Cohen said, “and we can only accommodate the musical and other artistic needs of all our students through the generosity and assistance of partners such as Blues and Brews.”
This year’s festival will be June 7 and 8 at the Continental Driving Range. Tickets are available at FlagstaffBlues.com/tickets.
FALA will again contribute to the Blues and Brews effort by supplying volunteers, consisting of staff, teachers, students and parents.
The Flagstaff Arts & Leadership Academy is a public charter middle and high school that emphasizes performing and visual arts, service learning and civic engagement, as well as a college preparatory curriculum.
Peak Events was founded by Debbi Grogan in 2001 and is owned by her daughter, Jennifer. They believe in the importance of music education and have long contributed to this effort locally by underwriting instrument rentals and repairs, and helping area schools enhance their music programs.
