FLAGSTAFF — Early voting for the July 30, 2024, Primary Election started Wednesday, July 3. The Coconino County Recorder’s Office mailed out over 44,200 early ballots to voters on the active early voting list (AEVL) and those voters that requested a single election early ballot for the Primary Election.
The July 30 Primary Election is a partisan primary, meaning voters on the AEVL who are registered with a recognized political party were mailed an early ballot for the political party indicated on their voter registration form. The recognized political parties in Arizona for the 2024 elections are Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Green and No Labels Party.
Voters on the AEVL who are registered as Independent, no party affiliation, or an unrecognized political party, were sent a notice at the beginning of May informing them that they needed to return the notice indicating what political party ballot they want to receive. If this notice was not returned, the Recorder’s Office cannot mail the voter an early ballot until they inform the Recorder’s Office what party ballot they want to receive. Independent and unaffiliated voters who are on the AEVL and did not return the notice may call the Recorder’s Office to request a specific party ballot, or do so online at https://coconino.az.gov/3284/Voter-Services, select “Early Ballot Request”.
The Green, Libertarian and No Labels Parties have a closed primary, which means only early voters registered with one of those political parties will be mailed the ballot for the party that matches their voter registration record. Independent and unaffiliated voters may not request one of these ballots.
All registered voters not on the AEVL may request an early ballot for the Primary by: calling the Recorder’s Office; sending a written request to Coconino County Recorder’s Office, 110 E. Cherry Avenue, Flagstaff, AZ, 86001; or submitting an on-line request at https://coconino.az.gov/3284/Voter-Services and select “Early Ballot Request.” The deadline to request an early ballot be mailed is July 19.
Early Voting is available in person at several locations throughout the county. To see the list of early voting locations and their office hours go to https://coconino.az.gov/3284/Voter-Services, select “Early Voting Locations”.
