A Note from Supervisor Archuleta
Greetings District 2 Residents,
As we begin the new week, it’s important to acknowledge the current state of our country and our world.
We are currently living amid a global pandemic and a civil rights movement. Both things have impacted our community as we continue to learn and adapt to COVID-19, while simultaneously acknowledging and addressing the rampant racial injustice that has established itself in the foundation of our country. As we continue to move through this year, and adapt to our “new normal,” I want to stress that Coconino County is a place for ALL people to thrive, to be accepted, and to be embraced for the diversity they bring to our community. We at the County are committed to ensuring the safety, health, and acceptance of ALL residents, and we will continue to work on your behalf to ensure that our work reflects and meets the needs of our community.
As you may have seen in the news today, the United States Supreme Court ruled today that the LGBTQ+ community cannot be discriminated against in the workplace based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. This is a major milestone. As we continue the work towards bettering our community and advocating for equal rights for all, let’s celebrate this moment and members of our community who will be positively impacted by this decision.
Our work towards equality is never done and we must continue to fight for every one of our community members so that we can continue to build a robust and equitable world for future generations.
As we continue this work, please do so with an open heart, an open mind, and continue to advocate for change in Coconino County, and our greater world.
In community,
Liz Archuleta,
Chair of the Board of Supervisors and
Supervisor of District 2
Quote of the Day
“It takes no compromise to give people their rights…it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression.”
-Harvey Milk
