131st Rose Bowl Parade
I want to share some exciting news, I received an unexpected invitation to walk in this year’s the New Year’s Day Rose Bowl Parade! The theme of the parade is “The Power of Hope” and I will be walking with the Women’s Suffragist float in support of the 100 Year Anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving Women the Right to Vote. The Suffragists will be walking behind a 55-foot long float with a 30-foot tall Statue of Liberty.
I’m honored to be the Arizona representative and to represent all women and the beautiful diversity of our State, Being the first Latina in history to be elected to the Coconino County Board of Supervisors and having served in this position for 23 years and currently the only Latina county supervisor in Arizona, this is a great honor and an opportunity to express joy and thanks giving for the work of women in our history to make today possible.
I will be in full costume as a Suffragist and I appreciate the help of Nancy Wardell, owner of Incahoots Vintage Clothing and Costumes and seamstress Denise Flores, in helping me make this possible. Be sure to tune in – you can watch the parade at 9 a.m. on ABC on Jan 1, 2020 for the 131st Rose Bowl Parade.
What an amazing way to represent Arizona, Coconino County and to bring in a new year! Look for more pictures in our next newsletter

Coconino County ranchers and farmers who have suffered financial losses due to drought may now be eligible for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Farm Service Agency loans. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue recently designated Coconino, Navajo and Apache Counties as natural disaster areas because of recent drought conditions.
Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs, including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or refinancing of certain debts.
Farmers and ranchers can find out more by visiting farmers.gov/recover or calling the USDA Service Center in Flagstaff at 928-774-2401 ext. 3 or Fredonia at 928-643-7062 ext. 3. You can also visit the USDA offices at 1585 S. Plaza Way, Suite 120 in Flagstaff or 145 S. Main St. in Fredonia.
The deadline to apply for these emergency loans is July 6, 2020.
