ArtWalk Expansion – Call for entries
|
|

Be part of ArtWalk this fall!
Creative Flagstaff invites organizations and artists to submit a proposal for an art/science/culture performance or exhibition for First Friday Artwalk programming in Heritage Square to take place in one of the following months: September, October, or November of 2022. Three proposals will be selected, one each for September, October, November, and will be compensated $1,500. Don’t wait – the deadline for submissions is June 24, 2022!

Kick off the holiday weekend with ArtWalk on Friday, July 1st! Stop by Heritage Square to pick up your ArtWalk map from 5 – 8 pm. While you’re there, check out a live painting demo by Dana Kamberg & Kayley Quick and live music from Flagstaff Community Band. Use the ArtWalk map to guide you around downtown to all of our participating businesses.

Digital Resource Center: Grand opening & next steps

Thank you to everyone who attended the grand opening of the Digital Resource Center on May 21st! We are excited to start planning classes and workshops for this space, but we want to hear from you. Your feedback is greatly valued as we continue to develop ongoing workshop programming to offer learning opportunities that are most beneficial to the cultural and creative sectors of the greater Flagstaff community. NightVisions: Cultural Interpretations of the Night Sky is currently on view at CCA through August, 27th. Join us throughout the summer for programming exploring the night sky.

Thursdays: June 16, July 7, August 4 & 18
Enjoy a twilight viewing experience 6-9 pm on the first and third Thursdays of each month during NightVisions. Evening hours enable viewing of the exterior video installation SKYGLOWPROJECT at dusk, and an intimate exhibition experience in the gallery. $10 suggested donation, free for CCA members. Refreshments available for purchase.

By popular demand, we are offering a second session of this NightVisionsworkshop. Learn approaches to Astrophography in a combined classroom- and field-based workshop with Flagstaff astrophotographer John Gartin.

NightVisions: 21 Tiny Dances
Saturday, July 23, 7 – 9 pm
21 short solo, duet and trio dance/movements representing the number of comets Carolyn Shoemaker witnessed near Jupiter. Performers will include guest artists from Flagstaff and greater Arizona. Images of Jupiter will be projected behind and on the dancers.

David Koerner & Dark Sky Quartet
Saturday, August 20, 7 – 8:30 pm
Dark Sky Quartet brings together violinists Allison O’Bryant and David Koerner, violist Kimberly Sullivan, and cellist Mary Anne Bruner to adorn the landscapes and skyscapes of Northern Arizona with befitting works of chamber music. Benefit concert for Coconino Center for the Arts and the Dark Skies Coalition.
