Commentary: ECoNA — Giving Thanks

econaIn this traditional time of giving thanks, I wanted to take a quick break from reporting on our region’s economic advancements and express my deep appreciation for the support you have shown me in my first six months as President and CEO of ECoNA.

At the top of that list of thanks is former President and CEO Rich Bowen, who brought me aboard four years ago as he was forging this outstanding organization, and who capably led it until returning full-time to his duties at Northern Arizona University earlier this year.

Our organizational partners continue to be as committed to ECoNA’s vision as they were when we first started. From NAU, to numerous city and county officials, to representatives from the private sector, we have shown how a cohesive, collective approach to our regional economy can be the proverbial tide that lifts all boats. A special thanks to our Board Chairman, Chris Bavasi, who has done an exemplary job of ensuring that all voices are heard while also focusing us so that our shared dreams and ambitions for the region are transformed into action.

As always, there is continuing work to be done. Northern Arizona has an abundance of assets and resources, but also faces numerous changes as the economy and the rules of doing business in the region evolve. I have no doubt that we will be able to continue to meet those challenges working together.

May you and those you hold dear have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

John Stigmon
