Important information regarding a new jury scam targeting Coconino County residents.
COCONINO COUNTY — Coconino County Clerk of the Superior Court and Jury Commissioner Valerie Wyant has recently received reports from concerned residents regarding phone scams where they were contacted by an individual impersonating the Jury Commissioner and asking for personal information in an aggressive manner.
This person has been reported as using aggressive and threatening language, attempting to confirm personal information (addresses, phone numbers, date of birth, and email addresses), and informing citizens a warrant has been issued for their arrest.
Jury Commissioner Wyant reminds residents the Superior Court does not contact the public demanding personal information or other details over the telephone. Official contacts are conducted according to court procedure and will not include demands or threats.
The Arizona Attorney General’s Office has been notified of this scam. If residents have fallen victim to a scam, they may contact the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 226-5012 or the Coconino County Attorney’s Office at (928) 679-8200.
Anyone who may have been contacted as part of this scam or believes they are a victim of consumer fraud may also report the incident to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office by calling 1-800-352-8431 toll free or by filing a consumer complaint online at azag.gov/complaints/consumer
