ASU Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars Accepting Fall 2019 Applications

The Nina Scholars program at Arizona State University is now accepting applications for students admitted for the fall 2019 semester. The program dedicated to providing educational opportunities for individuals who would not normally receive traditional academic scholarships and whose personal commitments and financial circumstances would preclude their attendance without substantial, long-term scholarship support.

“I like the curiosity of what’s going to happen next,” Nez said.

Nez was one of more than 70 players at the fifth annual Flagstaff All-Girls Chess Tournament at Coconino Community College Saturday, Jan. 26. The tournament was an opportunity for girls and women across northern Arizona to test their chess skills and learn about the importance of women and minorities being involved in the career fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Laura van Dernoot Lipsky, founder and director of The Trauma Stewardship Institute and author of Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others, will be the keynote speaker at the Annual Child Abuse Prevention Conference, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Little America, Flagstaff.
