FLAGSTAFF — The city of Flagstaff, in partnership with Arizona Public Service (APS), has installed four electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Flagstaff City Hall, 211 West Aspen Avenue in the heart of downtown Flagstaff. These charging stations will support the City’s transition to EVs for the City fleet and the growing numbers of community members who drive EVs. This project is supported through the APS Take Charge AZ program. The city of Flagstaff is one of the first in the state to install these charging stations as part of Take Charge AZ.
These are the first electric vehicle charging stations in the downtown area that are available to all EVs. These stations will support visitation in the downtown area, enabling EV drivers to park at City Hall and then easily walk downtown or to other nearby attractions while their vehicle charges.
The transition to electric vehicles has many benefits. Electricity is a cleaner and significantly less expensive fuel than traditional gasoline or diesel. Cars that use electricity for fuel save money over the long term, require significantly less maintenance, lower greenhouse gas emissions and produce less local air pollution.
The charging stations will provide free electric vehicle charging during the initial pilot period while the City and APS learn about impacts to the electric grid and vehicle charging patterns. The four EV charging parking spaces in the City Hall West lot will be available for use at all hours by the public.
