Beautification in Action Grantee Spotlight! Flagstaff Family Food Center

Beauty, community and sustainability come together at the Flagstaff Family Food Center. The organization received a Beautification in Action grant in fall 2023 to transform their public-facing yard with sustainable steel raised garden beds and trellises, creating an active and educational garden full of edible plants. The garden now provides fresh ingredients for the Center’s kitchen, which provides thousands of meals daily throughout northern Arizona. In this revived space community members can relax, recharge and connect with others among the growing seasonal produce. Further enhancing the space is a colorful mural designed and painted by Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy students celebrating the bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
