FLAGSTAFF — The 2020 streets maintenance program was approved by Flagstaff City Council on May 19, 2020. This project will address various locations in the community and includes minor concrete repairs, asphalt overlays and chip sealing. The total cost of the project is $5.6 million and is scheduled to begin on May 26, 2020.
The maintenance work will be performed on the following roads:
- U.S. N. 89 from Marketplace Drive to Trails End Drive
- Country Club Drive from U.S. N. 89 to Nestle Purina Avenue
- In the following subdivisions: Swiss Manor, Mobile Haven, Mount Elden Foothills, Smokerise, Dodge Ave. Industrial Park area, Country Club Estates and Amberwood.
The public should expect traffic impacts near these locations for eight weeks in the duration of the maintenance work. The road repairs will result in temporary traffic restrictions, noise and dust. The restrictions will attempt to maintain access to businesses and residences.
This work is due to Flagstaff voters’ 2014 approval of Proposition 406 (City of Flagstaff Road Repair and Street Safety Initiative), a 20-year dedicated sales tax for Road Repair and Street Safety projects. Community investment of $100 million of infrastructure improvements is scheduled to be utilized and completed over the term of the 20-year sales tax.
The City is committed to repairing and improving every street in Flagstaff and keeping its residents informed on the status of the project work.
