CCC Commencement (May 15) ceremonies go virtual
The Coconino Community College Commencement and Nurse Pinning ceremonies will be offered “virtually” this year.
The Nurse Pinning virtual ceremony will be available on the CCC homepage on Thursday, May 7, beginning at 5 p.m. at www.coconino.edu.
The Commencement virtual ceremony will be available on the CCC homepage on Friday, May 15, beginning at 2 p.m., at www.coconino.edu. Dr. Smith added that any student wishing to do so would be most welcome to attend the Commencement ceremony next year.

Since 2007 Coconino County has been assisting eligible county residents with its Basic Business Empowerment (BBE) training (www.coconino.az.gov/bbe) and Individual Development Accounts (IDA) match saving grants (www.coconino.az.gov/ida) opportunity. The 9-week, summer 2020 BBE training is scheduled to be held 6-9pm, Tuesdays, May 26th through July 21st only online via a 9-week Zoom Web-based video conferencing format.

A virtual evening with Chilean folk musician, activist Nano Stern to be presented by NAU Latin American Studies, Martin-Springer Institute, University of Arizona Latin American Studies at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 on Zoom.
Nano is an incredible singer songwriter / multi-instrumentalist. Joan Baez who has shared the stage with Nano, describes him as perhaps, “the best Chilean singer-songwriter of his generation, with his lyrics, melodies, message, humor and heart.”
Oct. 22 — City of Flagstaff to host Proposition 436 virtual Town Hall
The city of Flagstaff will host a virtual Town Hall on Oct. 22, 2020 to answer constituent questions on Proposition 436. Proposition 436 is ballot measure that will allow the city to continue collecting a 1% general Transaction Privilege Tax (sales tax). The current 1% general transaction privilege tax (sales tax) rate that was first adopted in 1964 and is currently set to expire in November 2024.

Listen to Aaron’s story as a NASA Mechanical Engineer who contributed to the missions to the planet Mars. Yazzie served as a surface operations downlink chair for the Mars Science Laboratory “Curiosity” Rover after landing in 2012.
He delivered flight hardware to Mars on board the InSight Lander Mission in 2018. Currently, his second set of flight hardware is aboard the Mars 2020 “Perseverance” Rover.
