AARP provides information on SS & VA Beneficiaries with Dependents, Nursing Homes

Non-Filers VA, SSI recipients with eligible children need to act by Tuesday, May 5 to quickly add money to their automatic Economic Impact Payment; $500 for each dependent child. Click here for details.

County announces free wireless hotspot in Page

Coconino County has installed a Wi-Fi hotspot allowing residents of Page and the surrounding areas to access internet without charge.

The hotspot is located between the Coconino County Health and Human Services Northern Region Office and Page Magistrate Court buildings at 467 Vista Avenue.

ECoNA — COVID-19 Bulletin #6: Round 2 of PPP Opens Today

Round 2 of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) begins this morning, as the Small Business Administration accepts new applications for the potentially forgivable federal loans.

However, businesses with employees, sole proprietors and independent contractors need to act now if they hope to tap into the new $310 billion pool of funding, according to Bruce Nordstrom of Nordstrom & Associates P.C. in Flagstaff.

Join us on Facebook for a Live Event in the Ceramics Studio!  Dennis Ott will be leading a virtual tour of the ceramics studio and demonstrating the process for creating a Loving Bowl. The live demonstration on the potter’s wheel is the same one that is given on the first day of a Ceramics Class. Dennis will then walk you through the rest of the process involved in producing each Loving Bowl, including glazing and firing and packing it away till December when we sell them for $10.00 each benefiting multiple local non-profits.

CCC student adapts in challenging times

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Coconino Community College student Justin Eaton would attend his classes in person, something he enjoyed very much.

Now, he walks the dog, makes his coffee, eats some breakfast and strolls into his home office to go to school.

“It was a little bit of adapting, but it wasn’t hard,” Eaton said. “I do miss being in the classroom.”

Probably the biggest economic news right now is the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), the pool of almost $350 billion in forgivable small business loans that is one of the main components of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Willard Springs Transfer Station opens Friday free green waste-only disposal

Coconino County will reopen the Willard Springs Transfer Station for the summer season for free green waste-only disposal.

The station will not be accepting bulk waste due to cash handling and social distancing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Green waste disposal provides an incentive for residents to clean up their properties before wildfire season. 

United Way of Northern Arizona Awards $50,000 Grant to Flagstaff Family Food Center

United Way of Northern Arizona has recently awarded a $50,000 grant from its COVID-19 Fund to the Flagstaff Family Food Center (FFFC), a nonprofit meeting the challenges of COVID-19 by adapting how it provides services while dramatically expanding its services to those in need.
