The Coconino County Board of Supervisors (Board) met in special session (Nov. 29) to continue the process of filling the upcoming vacancy in District 3.
During the public meeting the Board conducted thorough interviews with the five remaining candidates who have applied to fill the vacancy through 2024. Two candidates who did qualify to fill the vacancy removed themselves from consideration prior to today’s session.
After the interviews concluded the Board met in a brief executive session to discuss the candidates and their next steps. Upon their return to the dais Jeronimo Vasquez, Chairman of the Board and Supervisor for District 2, announced that the Board will have further discussion and possible action at their next regular meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
“Thank you to all the candidates who joined us for interviews today,” Vasquez said. “We appreciate each of them taking the time to share their experiences with the Board and the community.”
The County will keep the District 3 public comment portal available for residents of Coconino County to submit written comments through December 5. Those interested in reviewing today’s session and the five candidate interviews can watch the recap on the County’s YouTube channel.
