While we have recently enjoyed a month of significant cultural events (such as Flagstaff’s Fiesta de Mayo, NAU’s Hispanic Convocation), issues that affect the Hispanic community in the region remain with us all year long: educational parity, the need for affordable health care, immigration reform and juvenile justice chief among them.
To provide decision makers with regular updates on these issues, the Coconino County Board of Supervisors created the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC). As we celebrate more than 10 years of existence, the council is seeking to add more members, or at the very least invite more voices to share their concerns.
CHAC meets the first Monday of the month at the Coconino County Administration Building, 219 E. Cherry Ave., Flagstaff. Prior to our meeting, we would like to invite the public to the first of our “CHAC Talk” community to a meet-and-greet event at 5 p.m. Monday, July 1 in the supervisor’s meeting room.
Please feel free to join us for our regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the same building. Hope to see you there.

CHAC le invita cada mes

Mientras hemos gozado recientemente un mes de eventos culturales significativos (como la Fiesta de Mayo de Flagstaff y la Graduación Hispana de NAU), los asuntos que afectan a la comunidad Hispana en la región se quedan con nosotros todo el año: igualdad educacional, la necesidad para cuido médico económico, reforma inmigratoria, y la justicia juvenil entre los principales.
Para avisar a los que hacen decisiones sobre estos asuntos la Mesa de Supervisores del Condado de Coconino crió el Concilio Hispano de Asesores de Coconino (CHAC). Como estamos celebrando más que 10 años de existencia, el concilio busca añadir más miembros, o por lo menos invitar más voces para compartir sus preocupaciones.
CHAC se junta el primer lunes del mes en el Edificio Administrativo del Condado de Coconino, 219 E. Cherry Ave., Flagstaff. Antes de nuestra junta, nos gustaria invitar al público al primero de nuestro “CHAC Talk” en la comunidad a eventos para conocernos a las 5 p.m. lunes el 1 de julio, en la sala de conferencias de los supervisors.
Favor de juntarse con nosotros para nuestras reuniones regulares a las 5:30 p.m. en el mismo edificio. Esperamos verle pronto.
