Sedona Arts Center Announces Programming
for this year and Celebrates Our Volunteers!

Theatre Studio in the Art Barn at Sedona Arts Center

Volunteers are extremely important to every non-profit organization and Sedona Arts Center needs your assistance with an exciting lineup of events and exhibits starting this September!

You’re invited to Sedona Arts Center’s Volunteer Event! Learn firsthand about all the exciting opportunities for this coming year and join us as we honor the people who have generously given their time and energy to help our staff put on great events and exhibits!

If you have volunteered this past year, we hope you will join us so that we can Thank Youand show our appreciation!

If you haven’t had an opportunity to volunteer, we welcome you join us and see what’s new this coming year.  We have several different volunteer opportunities that can suite everyone’s interests, capabilities and time.  You’re welcome to bring friends who may be interested in volunteering as well. The more the merrier!

Light snacks and beverages will be served including wine, beer, iced tea and water.

We are really looking forward to this gathering and hope you will be able to attend!

Volunteer Jobs Needed

Volunteer Coordinator
Looking for one-two organized people to coordinate volunteers for the various events, exhibits and the gallery. Store.  The volunteer coordinator will be responsible for overseeing volunteer activities and duties can include interviewing, hiring, training, maintaining volunteer records, scheduling, and staffing events. This position can be shared between two people.

General Events – Set Up & Strike Crew
These volunteers assist with set-up of our various events. This involves table and chair moving and set up, tent set up, food & drink set up, decorating, and more. Thesevolunteers will also be needed following the events to strike everything and help put it all away. Volunteers can leave the event and come back between set up and strike.

Celebrate Sedona – Set Up & Strike Crew
This set up and strike crew will be specific for Celebrate Sedona – our largest outdoor event that happens the first Wednesday of selected months in 2023 & 2024. Timing andspecifics are the same as general event set up and strike crew needs – see above.

Bartenders
Bartenders are needed to be trained and pour beer and wine during Celebrate Sedona, the Sedona Plein Air Festival, and possibly other events as well.

Gallery – Sales
Gallery Sales Volunteers will assist the Gallery personnel with sales and assisting customers. The Gallery is open 7 days a week. Gallery Sales Volunteers will be required towork at least a four-hour shift. These volunteers may also be called upon to assist with sales for all special exhibitions and events. Must be comfortable with Square or be willing to be trained on this digital platform to run credit card charges. Must also agree to follow all Gallery processes, procedures and rules.

Events – Sales
Events Sales volunteers will assist personnel with sales during events.  Those events can include the Plein Air Festival, Celebrate Sedona, exhibits and more.

Exhibition Support
Support is needed to help install the exhibits in the SEG. Ideally, these volunteers will have experience
installing art exhibits and an “eye” for showing art to its fullest potential. Duties can include painting and
moving pedestals, unpacking and packing shipped work prior to and after the exhibit dates.

Exhibit Attendants
As above with Gallery Sales, only these volunteers would only be called upon to staff our rotating exhibits in the Special Exhibits Gallery.  Must be comfortable with sales and be willing to educate yourself on the artists in those exhibits.

Sedona Plein Air Festival-Artist Housing
Volunteers will be needed to house participating visiting artists for 7-10 days during the Sedona Plein Air Festival in 2024.  Ideal hosts will have guest spaces or a casita to host 1-2 artists.  In return, artists are asked to donate a painting to the host.

Sedona Plein Air Festival Event Volunteers
During the weeklong festival this October, paint out events are held and volunteers are needed to circulate water to the artists.  Other duties include helping artists to set up before judging, assisting with sales and setting up reception events.

Teaching Artist Assistants
Teaching Artists Assistants are needed to assist visiting teaching artists with classes. This may involve helping to film a class, assist in hybrid learning/streaming, helping with materials, technical assistance, running errands or anything else that may be needed.

Founded in 1958, the nonprofit organization is based at the Art Barn in Uptown and offers year-round classes, exhibitions, festivals, and cultural events that enhance the creative life of the Verde Valley. The Center’s Art Gallery promotes the original works of over 100 local and regional artists and regularly offers special assistance for collectors and art buyers, offers private studio visits, and fosters hundreds of arts education opportunities each year.
