FLAGSTAFF — Latino Outdoors in Flagstaff has been busy promoting its efforts to get Latinos off the couch and into the great outdoors.
The organization was scheduled to hold a free Sunset Crater Volcano Solar & Star Party on Aug. 6 where guests could take part in a solar viewing, an astronomy presentation and a telescope viewing and constellation tour.
It has previously held a ~ Dark Skies Caminata ~ walk and talk at Buffalo Park and a free class on building an organic garden table at Home Depot westside. The group has also presented information during the “2016 Summertime Tardeada — Mariachi and Folklorico Festival” in Flagstaff and to the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC).
Latino Outdoors seeks to connect with other professionals and leaders to create outreach projects for marginalized groups to experience the outdoors. They are a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Bilingual in Spanish and English and trained in local and regional ecology.
