FLAGSTAFF — Friends of Flagstaff’s Future will hold a City Council Candidate Forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 28 at Flagstaff High School. The forum’s unique roundtable format, in which candidates rotate among tables of participants, allows members of the public to ask their own questions and interact with each candidate in an intimate setting.
All the mayoral and council candidates have confirmed that they plan to attend. Current city council member Coral Evans and incumbent Jerry Nabours are running for mayor. The seven candidates running for three open council seats are Karla Brewster, Jim McCarthy, Charlie Odegaard, Jeff Oravits, Adam Shimoni, and Jamie Whelan. The local election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, the same day as the national election.
Friends of Flagstaff’s Future (F3) is a non-profit organization working for a more environmentally sustainable, socially just, and economically prosperous Flagstaff. Each election season, F3 makes it easy for Flagstaff residents to make informed decisions when they vote by holding a candidate forum and providing candidate surveys and summaries of ballot initiatives at www.flagstaffelection.com.
Co-sponsors of the July 28 Candidate Forum include Citizens Climate Lobby, Friends of the Rio de Flag, Flagstaff Freethinkers, Habitat Harmony, Northern Arizona Pride Association, Northern Arizona Interfaith Council, and Stand Up for Flagstaff.
