FLAGSTAFF — The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has awarded Bronze Level to the City of Flagstaff Rio de Flag Water Reclamation Facility in their Voluntary Environmental Stewardship Program.
Bronze Level recognizes organizations that demonstrate strong environmental compliance and go beyond legal requirements to protect human and environmental health. To qualify, regulated facilities must have zero violations on record with any environmental regulatory agency for the past three years.
The ADEQ praised the Rio de Flag Water Reclamation Facility for its demonstration of environmental excellence and leadership in groundwater protection. The Rio de Flag facility, which is one of two water reclamation plants run by the City of Flagstaff, is capable of treating 4 million gallons of water per day through conventional wastewater treatment processes. The City’s other reclamation facility, Wildcat Hill, has been a member of the Voluntary Environmental Stewardship Program since 2021. This achievement is a testament of the daily hard work and dedication of the reclamation facilities teams.
