Upcoming Library Closures
The Downtown and East Flagstaff Community Libraries will close at 4:00pm on Wednesday, November 27th & be CLOSED Thursday, Nov. 28th & Friday, Nov. 29th for Thanksgiving.  They will be OPEN Saturday, Nov. 30th.
Adult & All-Ages Events
Paper Bag Basket Take & Make Kit. Create a handmade basket out of a paper grocery bag! Kits available at the Downtown Library Information Desk, November 1st - 27th, while supplies last.
Explore The World: Virtual Reality (VR) For Seniors. Come try our new VR technology! Now is your chance to experience a virtual adventure to a new place you've never been, or try a new experience. 20-minute slots available for each experience. 3 Open House Locations and Dates: The Peaks. Tuesday November 19th 10:30 am - 1:30 pm.
Smart Phone Basics. Come learn smart phone basics, including navigating your device, getting connected, common apps, and helpful settings. Please bring your smartphone. Seats are limited and registration is required. Register by calling 928-213-2331, or visiting the Information Desk or http://tiny.cc/smartphonebasics. November 19 @ 2-4 PM Downtown Library Community Room.
Movie & Discussion: Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope. Nov 19th, 5:30-7:45pm Downtown Library Community Room. Two college students strangle a friend and hide the body in a chest upon which they then arrange a dinner party with the unsuspecting professor whose lectures inspired their killing. View the film and stay for a discussion. Rated PG for discussions of strangulation and murder.
Wily Writers, weekly writing group. Starting August 7th! Make writing a habit with practice! With the use of prompts, time allotments, and group sharing, Wily Writers will learn more about their writing and support others along the way. You bring your writing tools and we'll bring the fun! Every Wednesday at 6:00pm Downtown Library Northwest Corner.
The Knitting Hour. Want to learn to knit? Need help with a knitting project? Members of the Fiber Artists of Northern Arizona Guild are available to help! All skill levels welcome! Fourth Friday of each month 1 to 3pm Downtown Library Northwest Fireplace.
Book Clubs
Senior Book Club at the Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center. 3rd Monday of every month. November 18th at 1pm The Morningside by Téa Obreht. Upcoming: Hang the Moon by Jeanette Walls on December 16th.
LGBT+ Book Club 2024. The Empress of Salt and Fortune by Nghi Vo. November 18th at 6:30 PM. East Library.
Southwest Reads Book Club. This Land is Our Land: How We Lost the Right to Roam and How to Take It Back by Ken Ilgunas. An examination of the history and future of America’s private property and public lands. November 20 at 6pm. *3rd Wednesday in November due to Thanksgiving Downtown Library Community Room.
Poetry Book Club. Join us every other month to discuss poetry. Stick around (if interested) for writing exercises afterwards! December 5 @ 5:30 PM Time is a Mother. Pick up a copy of the book at the Downtown Information Desk and meet in the Northwest Corner!
Youth Events
Mini Masterpieces. Unleash your inner artist as we whip up tiny masterpieces and our very own tiny easels! Ages 7+. Wednesday November 20, 2024 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM. Downtown Library.
Drawn to Comics 2024. Teens 12-17 Friday Nov. 15 12:30pm-1:30pm. Kids ages 5+ Thursday Nov. 21 2:30pm-3:30pm. East Flagstaff Community Library.
Winter 2024. Storytimes at the Flagstaff Downtown Library. Saturday Story Stop. Year-round at 10:30am. Come to a fun-filled morning of storytime for ALL ages.
Friends of the Library
Become a Friend to the Library. How Our Group Helps? We raise money to help support our library system and their many programs. How Do We Raise Money? Membership Dues, Year-Round Book Sales, Special Annual Book Sale, Merchandise Sales, Generous Donations. We also host a special event for local authors. At this event, the Copper Quill Award is presented to a local author chosen by past Copper Quill winners. Benefits to You: Support your library, Early Access to Members Preview Day of Annual Book Sale, 25% off books being sold through Friends at the library.
Technology Help
Free Technology Instruction and Resume Help. 30-minute,one-on-one instruction sessions available for help with introductory software, creating email accounts, downloading eBooks, résumé development, online job applications, and more.   Click here to see available dates. Registration is required for all sessions.
