United Way of Northern Arizona — Deadline Extended to May 17 for KinderCamp™

Deadline to Enroll in KinderCamp™ Extended

The deadline to enroll in KinderCamp™, a targeted intervention program provided free of charge to families with children entering kindergarten, has been extended to May 17.

KinderCamp is a signature early education initiative coordinated by United Way of Northern Arizona with local school districts. It is held during the month of June and facilitates successful transition for students going into kindergarten who have minimal preschool experience.

If you know anyone whose child could benefit from KinderCamp, we ask that you share this message with them so they can learn more.

In KinderCamp, students learn much more than their letters and numbers. They also get familiar with the daily routine of kindergarten, eating in a cafeteria setting, and working cooperatively with other students. The biggest transformation for these students, according to their parents, is their increased confidence and excitement about starting school.

A survey of parents indicated that children’s KinderCamp experience improved their knowledge of letters and sounds of the alphabet, made them better able to socialize with other children, and increased their ability to communicate with adults.

In addition to Flagstaff, the program is also offered in other northern Arizona communities, such as Williams and Pinetop-Lakeside. To learn more about the program in Williams, contact Deniz Chavez, and for information about the Pinetop-Lakeside program, contact Jordan Kloeckner.
KinderCamp would not be possible without YOUR support and the many partnerships that make this program possible, including the Flagstaff, Williams and Blue Ridge unified school districts.

In addition to individual donations, KinderCamp also benefits from the sponsorship of several organizations and businesses, including the offices of Coconino County Supervisors Patrice Horstman, Jeronimo Vasquez, and Adam Hess; Coconino Community College; APS; Bank of the West; Dollar General; Kinney Construction Services; the NARBHA Institute; PNC Bank; and the Salt River Project.
