Charity Navigator Gives UWNA High Marks

When you make a donation to a nonprofit, you want to feel confident that your gift is being properly used by an organization that takes its fiscal responsibility seriously.

That’s why we are so pleased to announce that, for the fourth year in a row, Charity Navigator has given United Way of Northern Arizona a 4-star rating, this year with a score of 96%. This means UWNA exceeds or meets best practices and industry standards for nonprofits. Only 13 United Way organizations of our size have achieved this high a rating.

Charity Navigator score is primarily based on UWNA’s financial accountability and leadership. It gave UWNA 10 out of 10 points in categories like fundraising efficiency, program expense ratio, and administrative expense ratio.

Charity Navigator also gave UWNA high marks for “mobilizing for mission,” that is focusing externally and capitalizing on partnerships and community building.

“If this organization aligns with your passions and values, you can give with confidence,” the Charity Navigator review states.

Being fiscally responsible is only part of how we make sure that your donations go where they are needed most. Our grant funding process includes extensive reviews and recommendations by our volunteer Community Investment Teams, with final approval resting with our Board of Directors.
