Theatrikos Reopens Concessions and Opening Night Receptions
June 2022
Concessions Reopen
With relaxed covid safety protocols, we’ve reopened concessions and we’re back to doing opening night receptions.
During the pandemic, we did some upgrades, too. We removed the old library elevator shaft and replaced it with a new bar built by woodworker extraordinaire Larry Gould. Pictured here is last Friday’s opening night of The Foreigner. Where we used the new bar for the first time.
Not only did we build a new bar, but we improved the quality of the concessions with a variety of baked goods from local businesses.
“The audience was impressed by the variety and quality of the choices,” said Bruce Fox (pictured here), concessions volunteer and Theatrikos board member. “Coffee was a big hit.”
“The way the world is, I think a silly evening in the theatre is a good thing, to take our minds off terror.”

Get To Know Your Stage Manager
by John Propster
The stage manager (SM) is a vital member of the production team. The director is responsible for the artistic vision and decisions, the staging and scheduling rehearsals. The SM is responsible for coordinating all aspects concerning the stage.
The type of person who makes an effective SM is, above all, an organized person capable of juggling many tasks at once. Second most important trait—ability to create an open and supportive atmosphere so director, cast and crew feel secure and positive during the creative process. Third—a sense of humor!
How does one become a SM? Since the SM is a jack-of-all trades, good SMs gain as much experience in all aspects of theatre. They work as crew member (backstage, light or sound tech) on a show. Assistant SMs have an opportunity to work and learn from an experienced SM. SM trainings are offered periodically throughout the year.
