LOUISE YELLOWMAN COUNTY PARK TO REOPEN MARCH 21
Coconino County will reopen Louise Yellowman County Park in Tuba City on Monday, March 21, 2022 after park closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Coconino County Parks and Recreation closed Louise Yellowman County Park in March 2020 due to increasing COVID-19 cases on the Navajo Nation. Read more about the reopening.
NORTH BOUNDARY FENCING OF FORT TUTHILL COUNTY PARK
Parks & Recreation Operations and Maintenance staff completed fencing the north boundary of Fort Tuthill County Park last month. The 650′ fence delineates the park boundary from private residences north of the park and steers people towards official trails within the park. The fence is both horse and animal friendly, consists of materials left over from other projects, and is environmentally friendly and made from recycled steel from oil wells. It is also long lasting, so it won’t need to be replaced for many years!
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION VACANCIES
Are you interested in being involved in county-wide parks and recreation issues? Currently there are two vacancies on the Coconino County’s Parks and Recreation Commission in District 2. The purpose of the commission is to provide a citizen body responsive to the communities and people of Coconino County, and to recommend policy regarding the development and operation of a well-balanced system.
Membership may be with affiliation with partner organizations; knowledge and experience in park management, special event coordination, marketing, and tourism is helpful. The position is a six-year term.
If you’re interested in an application or want more information, email Areina Contreras at acontreras@coconino.az.gov.
