Big Gay Art Show
December 7-23, 2022

– Application Deadline: October 7, 2022

Open to all members and allies of the LGBT+ community.

Take advantage of the opportunity to be juried into this amazing show!

In December 2022, the Big Gay Art Show will return to the Sedona Arts Center exhibition schedule. The Big Gay Art Show is a juried art show that exhibits and sells artwork in support of the LGBTQ+ community and allies. In the past, Sedona Arts Center hosted and promoted this event. We are now running and hosting the event at the request of Sedona Pride. The show will run from December 7-23, 2022.

The Big Gay Art Show is a much anticipated, well attended exhibition open to all artists in any medium and of any level. In 2012, the Big Gay Art Show was conceptualized by a small group – some connected to SAC and others in the Sedona Pride organization. The event began as an effort to offer the LGBTQ+ community a voice in the local art scene. Since that first show, SAC has welcomed hundreds of emerging and professional artists to Sedona to share their work throughout the history of the event. We are excited to offer this event through the Arts Center in 2022.

The arts play a powerful role in enhancing the quality of life of older adults. Designed to generate opportunities for lifelong learning, social engagement and mastery of skills, Creative Aging workshops provide life-changing experiences for adults ages 55 and older.

If you are interested in:

  • Engaging older adults in meaningful, creative activity and sequential learning, and;
  • Incorporating creative aging principles of social engagement and mastery in to your arts workshop teaching, and;
  • You recognize the contributions of older community members…

then please join me in March to learn more about Creative Aging, it’s physical and mental benefits and how you can put the Creative Aging principles in to action.

Workshop Instructor: Julie Richard has led numerous Creative Aging teaching artist training sessions and will provide the overview of Sedona Arts Center’s new Creative Aging Program as well as the elements required for teaching artists to implement Creative Aging workshops themselves.

Teaching Artists who have completed this training will be eligible to participate in future trainings offered by Sedona Arts Center and they also will be eligible to apply to be on SAC’s Creative Aging Teaching Artist Roster.  In the future, Sedona Arts Center will be offering Creative Aging workshops using Teaching Artists from the Roster.
