100 Events in this year’s Festival of Science!

The 2021 Flagstaff Festival of Science will explore “Stories in Stone” on September 17-26 in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Ten days of events, including in-person guided walks, workshops and demonstrations, along with live-streamed virtual talks and lectures, will showcase science innovation and discovery happening right here in our own backyard!

100 community events make this city-wide Festival the biggest ever in our 32-year history!

Archaeologist Jaime Awe, Ph.D., of Northern Arizona University kicks off the Festival with an inspiring and exciting Keynote Presentation on the grandeur of Maya civilization.

“When Stones Speak: Decoding the Messages Embedded in Ancient Maya Monuments” is generously sponsored by W. L. Gore & Associates. The evening, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, in NAU’s Ardrey Auditorium, will feature Dr. Awe’s lecture as well as a time-honored Festival tradition, the science-themed ballet performed by NAU’s Community Music and Dance Academy.

During the 10-day Festival, participants will have the opportunity to learn about ancient cultures, the environment of the Colorado Plateau, wildlife, astronomy, biology and so many more scientific fields! Outstanding scientists and STEM professionals from Flagstaff and beyond will participate in each collaborative program, and all events are free!

The full program will be announced in late August!

Free tickets to the keynote event will be available at that time on a first-come, first-served basis.
