FLAGSTAFF — The 2021 streets maintenance program was approved by Flagstaff City Council at the Council meeting on May 18, 2021. This program will address various locations in the community and includes minor concrete repairs, asphalt overlays and chip sealing. The total cost of the project is $2.1 million and is scheduled to begin on June 1, 2021 on Forest/Cedar Ave. The project will begin with the chip seal surfacing with an anticipated duration of two weeks (dependent on weather conditions).
Maintenance work will be performed on the following roads:
- Overlay – Postal Boulevard., Ponderosa Parkway and Locust Drive (between Apple Way and Ponderosa Parkway)
- Chip Seal – Anita Avenue, Aztec Street, Bonito Street, Chambers Drive, Forest/Cedar Avenue, Kaibab Lane, Lake Mary Road, Lois Lane, Metz Walk, Monte Vista Drive, Pinnacle Street, Plaza Way, Thompson Street, Thorpe Road, Turquoise Drive, Walapai Drive and Woodlands Village Boulevard.
The public should expect traffic impacts near these locations for 10 weeks in the duration of the maintenance work. The road repairs will result in temporary traffic restrictions, noise, and dust. The restrictions will attempt to maintain access to businesses and residences.
This work funded by the 2014 approval of Proposition 406 (city of Flagstaff Road Repair and Street Safety Initiative), a 20-year dedicated sales tax for Road Repair and Street Safety projects.
The city is committed to repairing and improving every street in Flagstaff and keeping its residents informed on the status of the project work. For additional information visit www.flagstaff.az.gov/roadsafety.
