The Board of Supervisors made the appointment at a special session on Feb. 12.
COCONINO COUNTY — After interviewing the qualified candidates for the District 2 County Supervisor vacancy and reviewing multitudes of public comments, Jeronimo Vasquez was unanimously appointed to the position by the Coconino County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 12.
Newly appointed Supervisor Jeronimo Vasquez is a long-time resident of District 2 and graduate of Coconino High School and Northern Arizona University. Supervisor Vasquez is currently the 21st Century Community Learning Center Coordinator at Killip Elementary School in the 2nd District.
“I am very honored and humbled to be appointed to this role. The 2nddistrict and this community is in my heart. I look forward to serving the people of this district and our entire county. These are unprecedented times, but I know that together we can build a better future our community and county,” commented newly appointed Supervisor Vasquez.
“The Coconino County Board of Supervisors committed to an open and transparent process to fill this vacancy. We were glad to have such a diverse and passionate group of qualified candidates and it was an extremely difficult decision. We know that Supervisor Vasquez will carry on the former Supervisor Liz Archuleta’s legacy. I look forward to working with Supervisor Vasquez as we continue the important work at hand,” said Chairman Matt Ryan.
Supervisor Vasquez takes office immediately. This is a limited appointment through the 2022 General Election. The successful candidate in the 2022 General Election will serve the remaining two years of the four-year term.
