Coconino County Outlines Process for Filling District 2 Supervisor Vacancy

Community invited to make public comments HERE on the vacancy to the Coconino County Board of Supervisors

COCONINO COUNTY — The Coconino County Board of Supervisors met on Feb. 4 to hear from the public and decide upon next steps to fill the District 2 vacancy following the resignation of former Supervisor Liz Archuleta.

After hearing from several members of the public and reviewing approximately 75 emails from residents, the Board decided upon process to fill the vacancy.

Chairman Matt Ryan commented, “The Board of Supervisors is committed to a transparent, thoughtful, deliberate, and vibrant process to fill this vacancy. We encourage all interested and eligible individuals to submit their resumes for consideration. The public will be involved and informed of this process as we continue to ensure we adhere to our values of equity and inclusion.”

Per statute, to be eligible, an individual must be a registered Democrat and a resident of Coconino County, District 2. Interested persons can view the boundaries of the supervisorial districts at www.coconino.az.gov/1201/Election-Maps.

Eligible individuals should submit a resume and a cover letter explaining their desire to serve as a Coconino County Supervisor for District 2 by Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, 5:00 p.m. to:

Candidates need only submit a resume and cover letter to be considered. There is not a formal application other than a cover letter and resume.

The Board of Supervisors will review applications on Thursday, Feb. 11, and will conduct interviews in a public forum on Friday, Feb. 12. This is a limited appointment through the 2022 General Election. The successful candidate in the 2022 General Election will serve the remaining 2 years of the 4-year term.
