Flagstaff seeks community input on Dec. 9 in search for new Police Chief

FLAGSTAFF — The community is invited to participate in the selection of the Flagstaff Police Department’s next Police Chief at an upcoming meet and greet. The public meet and greet is scheduled for Dec. 9, 2020 at 5 p.m. and will held via Microsoft Teams.

The meet and greet will begin with each of the three candidates providing an introduction about themselves including their previous education and experience and how it relates to the Police Chief position. After all introductions have been completed, participants in the meeting will have an opportunity to submit questions for the Police Chief candidates to answer.

Geoff Leggett is from Surprise, AZ and currently is the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Surprise Police Department where he oversees 202 employees and a budget of $31.5 million, assists the Police Chief and oversees all internal investigations, use of force and shooting investigations.  Prior to his position in Surprise he was the Director of Law Enforcement Training at Glendale Community College and a Lieutenant for Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.  Mr. Leggett has a bachelor’s degree in Police Science and Administration and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

Kenneth Miller is from Greenville, SC and is currently a managing member of the Cerulean Management Group, LLC where he supports law enforcement and private businesses with strategic planning, business process and security-related assessments and management, policy development, legislative advocacy/preparedness and other business needs.  Previously Mr. Miller was the Police Chief for City of Greenville Police Department, Police Chief for City of Greensboro Police Department and Deputy Police Chief of City of Charlotte Police Department.  Mr. Miller has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Public Administration.

Dan Musselman is from Flagstaff, AZ and is currently the Interim Police Chief for the Flagstaff Police Department where he is responsible for the leadership for the Department, supervision, budgeting strategic planning, customer service, crime prevention, crisis management and legal compliance.  Prior to being the Interim Police Chief, Mr. Musselman held the positions of Deputy Police Chief, Police Lieutenant, Police Sergeant, and Police Corporal/Detective during his 28 years of service with the Flagstaff Police Department.  Mr. Musselman has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a master’s degree in Public Administration and completed the FBI National Academy.
