Coconino County Health and Human Services (CCHHS) and Northern Arizona University (NAU) have announced plans for a two-week COVID-19 Testing Surge.
The Testing Surge is offered as part of the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide free diagnostic COVID-19 testing.
The COVID-19 Testing Surge sites will offer self-administered COVID-19 testing and will be operational beginning Monday, Aug. 10 through Monday, Aug. 24 from noon to 8 p.m. daily at the following two locations for drive-up testing:
- Fort Tuthill County Park, 2446 Fort Tuthill Loop, Flagstaff, AZ
- Motel 6, 831 W. Rt. 66, Williams, AZ (parking lot)
Walk-up self-administered testing will be available at a third testing location at the University Union Fieldhouse, 1050 Knoles Drive on Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff campus. This location will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Aug. 10 – 23, for all Coconino County residents, including the NAU community. Free parking will be available on the upper levels of the San Francisco Parking Garage.
Individuals seeking COVID-19 testing at a Testing Surge site are asked to register in advance to expedite the testing process. Registration for testing is available at https://www.doineedacovid19test.com/ Although advanced registration is highly encouraged, anyone unable to complete the advanced registration online will be able to register at the testing site.
Test results will be available within 24 – 72 hours from the time specimens arrive at the lab. Those tested will receive the results through an online portal.
At the Surge Testing sites, individuals will be instructed on how to conduct a self-administered nasal swab test. Health professionals will guide participants through the testing process. Individuals who do not feel comfortable self-administering a test should contact their healthcare provider or call the COVID-19 Information Line for information on other testing options.
Those exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell) and those who feel they have been exposed to COVID-19 are encouraged to be tested. Waiting 5 to 8 days following exposure is recommended in order to obtain the most accurate results.
Inclement weather may require short pauses in testing site operations to ensure the safety of staff and individuals seeking testing. Notifications of operation pauses will be posted on the Coconino County Facebook page and at the testing sites.
Testing is free of charge and is provided on a first come first served basis. Everyone at the testing site is required to wear a mask or face covering.
