Important information regarding Flagstaff mayoral primary

FLAGSTAFF — The city of Flagstaff would like to inform all Flagstaff voters that there is an inconsistency between the voting instructions in the publicity pamphlet and the voting instructions on the ballot with respect to how many candidates to vote for in the mayoral primary. The instructions on the ballot are correct. Please follow the instructions on the ballot and vote for only one mayoral candidate. Pursuant to the City Charter, the two mayoral candidates who receive the most votes in the primary election will advance to the general election.

The city would also like to inform voters that Victor Varela has withdrawn his candidacy for Mayor. Because the primary ballot has already been printed and mailed to voters who have elected to vote early by mail, Mr. Varela’s name will be on the primary ballot; however, any votes cast for Mr. Varela will not be counted.

Please contact the City Clerk’s office at (928) 213-2076 with any questions or for additional information.
