National Forest Week
The week of July 13-19 is National Forest Week! Here are some ways you can get involved:
  • Tune in for the virtual kick-off event on Monday, July 13 at 2 PM EST/11 AM PST. During the livestream celebration, you’ll hear from NFF President Mary Mitsos, the U.S. Forest Service, and other NFF partners and staff. Watch on the NFF’s Instagram, Youtube, or at nationalforestweek.org.
  • Submit a photo to or share the National Forest Week photo contest.
Watch and engage with a virtual event. From an interpretive chat in the El Yunque National Rainforest to a gourmet s’mores cook along, there are several livestreamed events to choose from!
Closure of 4th Street Bridge
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for an extended closure of the Fourth Street bridge over Interstate 40 from 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, as work continues on the bridge replacement project.
Pedestrians, bicyclists and emergency vehicles will have access across Fourth Street during the 17-day closure.
During the extended closure of Fourth Street, the following traffic restrictions on I-40 also will be in place:
Eastbound I-40 narrowed to one lane at Fourth Street
  • 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18.
  • 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, to 6 a.m. Thursday, July 23.
  • 8 p.m. Thursday, July 23, and ending at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25.
Westbound I-40 narrowed to one lane at Fourth Street
  • 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18, to 6 a.m. Monday, July 20.
  • 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 23.
  • 12:30 a.m. Sunday, July 26, and ending at 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 29.
During the lane restrictions, east- and westbound I-40 traffic will be shifted to one side of the highway in a temporary configuration through the work zone. ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while construction is underway.

New COVID-19 Weekly Report Available
The Coconino County Health and Human Services has issued a new weekly report entitled COVID-19 Coconino County Weekly Update.
The report, which includes a COVID-19 situation summary, key takeaways, demographic and geographic information, hospitalizations and testing data related to Coconino County residents, is updated each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.
AZDHS COVID-19 Website
AZDHS just updated their COVID-19 website which now includes race and ethnicity on confirmed cases, location of confirmed cases by zip code, ages & gender of related deaths, and number of hospital beds & ICU beds available.
Water Trivia Week
July 13-19 is also Water Trivia Week! Ready to flaunt your water IQ? Participate in a weeklong trivia quiz that will test your knowledge of water in the desert. Answer questions about our state’s waterways, Arizona’s water sources and how to conserve water both indoors and outdoors. Cash prizes will be awarded to three participants! If you have not yet filled out the 2020 Census, please do so!
By filling out the census, you are ensuring that our community is counted and can receive the necessary resources we need to keep our community safe, healthy, and thriving!
Other important things to keep in mind:
  • Count everyone who is living in your house on 04/01/20 on your census form
  • The census DOES NOT ask about citizenship
  • All information collected is required BY LAW to be kept confidential
  • Make sure to include children and babies when filling out your census
  • EVERYONE COUNTS!
