One More Year to Obtain the
New Driver’s License and Travel Card
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 to get your Travel ID! Starting October 1, 2020, TSA security checkpoints will require a Travel ID endorsement to use an Arizona License or Identification card to fly. Beat the rush and visit http://www.AZTravelID.com  to schedule your appointment today!
Every Arizonan needs to know that beginning October 1, 2020, driver licenses and ID cards without a gold star in the upper right corner will no longer be accepted as identification at airports.  If Arizonans don’t have a passport or other federal ID — or they prefer to use their driver license as ID for domestic travel — they need to make a plan to get a Travel ID now.
As Ben Blink with the Governor’s Office mentioned at the board meeting, here are the big ways counties can help:
  • Pitch a one-year countdown story to local reporters to ensure constituents are aware of the October 1, 2020, effective date for the new ID rules. Encourage residents to check their ID’s for the gold star, make a choice about whether to obtain a new Travel ID, and beat the rush to do so now.  Visit www.AZTravelID.com for all the information they need.
  • Use social media and mailing lists to constituents — encourage people to check for the gold star on their driver licenses and ID cards and make a plan for what ID they will use after October 1, 2020.  Direct Arizonans to www.AZTravelID.com.
  • Post signs (attached) in highly-trafficked county offices and encourage any county customer service representatives that check ID cards to notify residents about the upcoming change.
  • Make announcements at county board meetings and other public events.  Encourage family and friends to reach out to infrequent fliers to make sure they have the ID they need to fly.
Note that on the state’s flagship website, www.AZTravelID.com, there are links to the authorized third party locations that offer Travel ID services.
Division of Developmental Disabilities to Host
Statewide Town Hall Meetings
The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is committed to empowering Arizonans with developmental disabilities to lead self-directed, healthy and meaningful lives. With a focus on increased collaboration and communication with our members, families and providers, the Division will be hosting Town Hall meetings throughout the state on a monthly basis.
The goal for these Town Hall meetings is to allow the Division to communicate improvements and changes that have been implemented as a result of previous Town Hall feedback and other information important to our stakeholders. Additionally, the Division will solicit feedback from stakeholders regarding new DDD ideas for continuous improvement. Time will also be allotted for open discussion during which attendees can present ideas, concerns and feedback to the Division.
As dates and locations are confirmed, the schedule will be continually updated. Please share this information with the members and families you serve. Also encourage them to“Like” DDD on Facebook if they prefer to receive updates to the schedule via social media.
