May 12 through July 28 — Next 12-week Basic Business Empowerment class to be held in Flagstaff

Individual Development Accounts (IDA) matching grants for business, college education also available

FLAGSTAFF — The next Coconino County Community Services’ (CCCS) 12-week (36-hour) Basic Business Empowerment (BBE) will be presented from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evenings through May 12 through July 28 at the County Health and Community Services Building (2625 N. King St., Flagstaff, AZ 86004).

This training is for Coconino County residents who want to start, improve, and/or expand a micro-business — five or fewer employees and typically requiring less than $35,000 of start-up capital.  Training facilitation is facilitated through our partnership with Coconino Small Business Development Center.

Prior to approving an applicant’s enrollment prospective candidates need to also take a short online assessment of their entrepreneurial knowledge/capacity by clicking HERE.

We use this to score and gauge how suited potential BBE candidates are for business start-up and ownership.  After completing your assessment please print, scan, and attach (or copy and paste) your total and section scores into a reply email to me or into a Word document attached to it.  (Please note that the assessment website is not connected with the BBE program so there is no need to register or provide them your e-address, unless you want to receive solicitation from them.)

Lastly, your registration is not complete until CCCS approves your application and receives any required supporting documentation and your $125 registration fee.  The last page of the application requests financial information required by our funding agencies and is also used to determine eligibility for a 50% BBE training scholarship, and to pre-screen eligibility for the Individual Development Accounts (IDA match saving grant opportunity (www.coconino.az.gov/ida). The class fee must be paid in person with cash or check to reserve your seat in the class.
