Stuart Shils – Emphasizing Abstraction
Free Talk on April 4 at 7pm
Join us for the first session of Stuart Shils workshop “Emphasizing Abstraction” an evening digital presentation and talk that is open to the public. In this presentation Stuart Shils makes the case that abstraction, the light and darks and color pattern on the surface of a painting is the driving force behind centuries of art. Why is one painting of the “Last Supper” for example on display while thousands of others are in storage in museums? That kind of question has meaning across the all the styles of art since the Renaissance and Baroque. What makes a painting great has almost nothing to do with narrative content. Join Stuart to explore this fasinating theme on April 4th in the South Studio. No registration needed for this free event. To see more about Stuart Shil’s full three-day workshop click HERE.
