City of Flagstaff declares State of Emergency for monsoon flooding of July 15 through 20

FLAGSTAFF — Mayor Coral Evans declared a State of Emergency on behalf of the city of Flagstaff due to the monsoon event(s) that occurred July 15 through July 20, 2018.

The monsoon events caused extensive damage to public infrastructure as well as private property across the city. Preliminary cost estimates are underway.

“The rainfalls in Flagstaff from the 15 through 20 of July damaged city infrastructure beyond what we expect from the monsoons,” said Mayor Evans. “Declaring a State of Emergency allows the city to fully respond to the events.”

Declaring a State of Emergency allows the city to expend emergency funds from all available sources and request assistance from Coconino County and/or the State of Arizona.
