Mural Mice Unveils Bushmaster Park Mural Designs on June 23

FLAGSTAFF  — Mural Mice Universal would like to invite the Flagstaff community to view designs for the new Bushmaster Park Community Mural Project. The designs are on display this Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Sandbox Ramada in Bushmaster Park located at 3150 N. Alta Vista Dr.

Mural Mice, a Flagstaff artist collective, will host a community potluck and mural confabulation on June 23 at 6PM. Feedback into the designs will help the artists to prepare the final image that will be painted on the wall beginning Saturday, July 15. Designs will be presented to the Beautification and Public Art Commission (BPAC) and once the designs have been approved by BPAC, the painting begins. The painting process will be open to everyone to participate.

The Mural Mice began gathering feedback for the mural in the beginning of June 2017 from park patrons. The designs are based on the ideas that were gathered during this process. This mural, which will be painted on the public restroom located at the eastern end of the park, is funded by the City of Flagstaff’s BPAC with Bed, Board and Beverage (BBB) tax dollars.

The Mural Mice began painting community murals in 2005 and have projects throughout Arizona. Moving to Flagstaff in 2013, they have placed several large public murals including “Mother Myth,” on Phoenix Ave (Historic Rt.66), and the Orpheum’s, “Sound of Flight” in collaboration with Flagstaff artist, Sky Black. This is their first outdoor community mural in Flagstaff and they are excited to make it their most exciting project yet.
