Plant closure initiates County/City Rapid Response Task Force

FLAGSTAFF — Coconino County and the City of Flagstaff have activated a Rapid Response Task Force to assist laid off workers who will be displaced as a result of the recent announcement of the SCA Tissue Production Plant closure in Flagstaff.

The Rapid Response Task Force will provide quality services during this difficult period of adjustment and change.  Reemployment and job training resource packets were provided to impacted employees and the SCA leadership team.

A resource and hiring fair will be held on June 28 from 10AM to 2PM at the County Health and Community Services building (2625 N. King St.) for SCA staff, other people who have been laid off recently from other local businesses, and for new businesses that are looking to hire.

Although the Flagstaff SCA plant is now closed, employees will still be receiving compensation until August 7, 2017.

We advise the affected employees to use the tools and services being provided to them to ultimately help them find new employment in the Flagstaff community.

The Task Force also offers mortgage assistance and financial advisors to inform employees about financial options. For more information about the Coconino County Rapid Response Task Force call 1-877-358-6714.
