FLAGSTAFF — The first impression that something was going on at the CollegeAmerica campus on east Route 66 were the two radio remote tents set up outside the building the parking lot. But it wasn’t until entering the campus that potential job seekers could discover a wealth of job recruiters providing information on everything from health care to retail opportunities.
The CollegeAmerica Fall Resource Fair drew a packed crowd of vendors and job seekers on Sept. 12, 2013 in Flagstaff.
Sam’s Club team members John Harrison, Aaron Edmister, and Mary Langin provided visitors to their booth with information on job opportunities in Flagstaff, along with discount membership programs offered to college students.
Thomasina Bailey, employment coordinator at the Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort, said the casino is still on the lookout for qualified candidates to fill out the 800-employee operation. There are currently 650 to 680 employees working at the casino east of Flagstaff.
One of those stopping by the Twin Arrows table was David Heil, a U.S. Army veteran, who recently moved to Flagstaff from Ohio. Heil, who said he has previously held positions in law enforcement, said he was visiting the Fall Resource Fair to see what opportunities for employment there are available in Flagstaff.
Maria Carillo, independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay, and a CollegeAmerica graduate, said she was at the fair to help future graduates understand the need to present themselves professionally in any job interview opportunity. Carillo, who specialized as a phlebotomist, said her position at Mary Kay offers her the opportunity she needs to raise a growing family until she can one day return to the health care field.
Yvonne Tucker, human resource assistant at Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, talked about the job opportunities that are available at a hotel that recently announced long-term plans to expand its operations, including construction of more rooms and a golf course at its 500-acrea site in Flagstaff.
Randall Moehr, human resources administrator with Pepsi, talked about the job opportunities available at The Fred Nackard Wholesale Beverage Co. (celebrating 80 years in Flagstaff) and Pepsi (celebrating 60 years in Flagstaff).

Carina Fors and Susan Huerta, talked about the needs and opportunities for bilingual healthcare providers at United Blood Services.

CollegeAmerica is currently building a two-story campus next to the Barnes & Noble bookstore on Milton. The building, at the former Greyhound Bus Station, its expected to be competed by late this year.
