Hello from Supervisor
Horstman
District 1 Residents,
Welcome to another edition of our Coconino County District 1 newsletter! My name is Patrice Horstman, and I am honored to serve as your Coconino County Supervisor.
Spring is upon us and with it comes growth, sunshine, and hope for a summer surrounded by our family and friends. With our increased vaccine supply and the ability for all residents 18+ to be vaccinated I am looking forward to a summer filled with community events and I hope to see you all. These vaccines will save lives and will allow us to return to a more normal state, therefore it is imperative that everyone get vaccinated.
I was so pleased to tour the Ft. Tuthill Vaccination Site with AZ-01 Congressman Tom O’Halleran. The vaccine site is a true testament to Coconino County’s unique ability and efforts to protect our community. We were the first county in Arizona to stand up free testing early in the pandemic and now we are working to vaccinate our whole community. Thank you to all the FEMA staff, National Guardsmen, and Medical Professionals I met, you are truly saving lives.
I am disappointed in Governor Doug Ducey’s latest decision to revoke local mask mandates. While we are certainly vaccinating more of our population, this is not the time to let up our mitigation efforts. We are in the home stretch of the ninth inning and must continue to follow CDC guidelines that encourage the use of masks. Please continue to do your part and mask up.
Be Well,
Patrice
Congressman O’Halleran
Visits Ft. Tuthill Vaccine
Site
On Monday, March 29th Congressman O’Halleran met with Supervisors Patrice Horstman, Matt Ryan, and the Coconino County Team to tour our Ft. Tuthill Vaccine Site. Congressman O’Halleran met with FEMA staff, National Guardsmen, and greeted patients receiving their vaccines.
We are so grateful to have Congressman O’Halleran as Coconino County and Northern Arizona’s champion in Congress. Congressman O’Halleran worked to pass the American Rescue Plan which will provide direct financial support to local governments as we work to get shots in arms.
Fire Season and Monsoon
Forecast
On March 23, the Coconino County Board of Supervisors received a Pre-Wildfire Season Briefing. These maps are very helpful in illustrating the potential wildfire threats we face this upcoming season. Wildfire and Post- Wildfire Flooding are the biggest threats to our community. It’s vital that we remain vigilant and stay prepared.
If you are not already, please be sure to sign up for the County’s Emergency Notification System.
Mt. Elden Estates
Community Meeting
Supervisor Horstman recently participated in a community meeting to discuss the the Mt. Elden Estates Flood Mitigation Project. The meeting included a monsoon season forecast from the nation weather service.
Arizona List Awards
Arizona List recently honored the women of Coconino County at their annual awards ceremony. Supervisors Horstman, Fowler, Begay, and former Supervisor Archuleta were celebrated for their accomplishments as public servants.
Member Organizations
As your County Supervisor, I serve on various boards, commissions, and committees that serve you and our community. I’ve also continued my long time service in organizations as a community member promoting arts and culture and maintaing the social safety net, and promoting higher education in our community. I hope you enjoy learning about some of these organizations.

Thank You to FEMA,
National Guard, and
Partners
I am so proud of the work that Coconino County is doing to vaccinate our community members. We continue to lead in the percent of people vaccinated statewide. To follow Coconino County’s progress, visit the Arizona Department of Health Services Vaccine Data Dashboard.
This work could not be done without the assistance of the incredible folks at FEMA , Arizona National Guard, and all our health care partners. “It is because of the support of our vaccine site partners and this community that has allowed Coconino County to be a leader among counties in the percent of the population vaccinated. These dedicated team members integrated seamlessly when they arrived from all over the country back in February to assume positions as vaccinators, traffic directors, call center staff, and anything else we needed. Our partners throughout this response are owed a debt of gratitude from us here at Coconino County and our residents,” said Coconino County’s Director of Health and Human Services, Kim Musselman.
