FLAGSTAFF — Riding in a couple of classic cars, members of the Coconino County Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC) were honored during the 2019 Armed Forces Day Parade, held Saturday, May 18 in downtown Flagstaff.
The 13th annual parade, with the theme: “Freedom is Not Free,” featured dozens of entries, honoring veterans from all branches of service.
CHAC, established in 2001 by the Board of Supervisors, was selected as this year’s Honor Division. During the past five years, CHAC has honored Hispanic veterans during its annual César E. Chávez Community Recognition Breakfast, with the 2019 event honoring local Purple Heart Veterans.
Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces, which has also honored Hispanic veterans during its annual Pioneer Picnic and Summertime Tardeada celebrations, also participated in the annual parade, with vehicles displaying banners of local Latino veterans.
