Hope this email finds you and yours healthy and safe. We have more local economic news to share ranging from a local video (that hopefully will make you smile) to new services at the county, state and federal level as we all cope with the coronavirus outbreak.
#1. Flagstaff Local reminds you to ‘Carry-Out and Settle In.’ Let’s start off with something both informative and fun, like the City of Flagstaff’s latest video for Flagstaff Local. This community movement, which promotes buying local and being a good citizen, shows how to support our local businesses while practicing safe social distancing – check it out here.
#2. Coconino County offers COVID-19 business help information. There’s a lot of great information in this document from County Economic Development Manager Chris Pasterz, but I wanted to highlight the weekly small business response planning webinars that happen each Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. To join, send an email to cpasterz@coconino.az.gov.
#3. Hot off the press – SBA’s Express Bridge Loans expanded to include businesses affected by COVID-19. Yesterday, the Small Business Administration announced it would extend the Express Bridge Loans Pilot Program to small companies impacted by coronavirus. These loans are designed to help businesses by providing funds while the companies are waiting for long-term financing, including the SBA’s Disaster Loan Program. #4. How the state of Arizona is responding. In the past week, Gov. Doug Ducey has issued no fewer than nine executive orders concerning COVID-19, ranging from expanding tele-medicine to outlining what businesses are considered essential. You can review all of them here.
#5. And in closing, another bit of good news. The $2.2 trillion emergency relief bill has unanimously passed the U.S. Senate after some very tense days in the nation’s capital. The House plans to vote tomorrow, and the White House has signaled it plans to sign the bill into law soon after. It will be welcome relief in our region and throughout the United States.
