CCC&Y’s monthly board meeting on Nov. 18 to feature information on Arizona Town Hall’s ‘Strong Families Thriving Children’ effort

FLAGSTAFF — Virginia Watahomigie, executive director of the Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth, will talk about her upcoming participation in the Arizona Town Hall and its background report “Strong Families Thriving Children,” and Jermaine Barkley of Steward Health Choice of Arizona will present information on the organization’s 1st Episode of Psychosis and ECHO process initiatives during the next CCC&Y monthly board meeting from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at the County Health and Community Services Building, 2625 N. King St., Ponderosa Room, Flagstaff.

The 112th Arizona Town Hall is being presented Nov. 14-16 at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel in Phoenix.

Board taps Navajo Nation educator for County Superintendent of Schools. See more local education news here

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors selected Dr. Tommy Lewis as the new Superintendent of Schools. The Board confirmed the appointment during the regular Board meeting on Nov. 5 and Dr. Lewis will begin his service on Nov. 18.

Dr. Lewis replaces Dr. Risha VanderWey, who began serving as the Tuba City School District Superintendent in August. Dr. Lewis’ term runs until Dec. 31, 2020. A primary and general election will be held in 2020 for a new term beginning in 2021.
