JOB SUMMARY:

NOTE: THIS POSITION IS PART-TIME, NO BENEFITS, MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS.

WORK LOCATIONS SPLIT BETWEEN RIORDAN MASION STATE PARK (409 W RIORDAN ROAD) AND THE PIONEER MUSEUM (2340 N. FORT VALLEY ROAD).

Under the direction of the Northern Arizona Division Director and in cooperation with the Riordan Park manager, the position holder will assist in the day to day operations of Riordan Mansion State Historic Park and/or Arizona Historical Society Pioneer Museum.

The Park Ranger Specialist will perform custodial duties, maintain facilities and grounds, and will assist with projects, events, office duties, fee collection and tours under the supervision of the park manager.  This position will provide enforcement of park visitors for compliance with park museum rules. The position will be responsible for operating two-way radio, motorized equipment and vehicles, as well as assorted hand power tools.  This position will complete training to accurately provide historical information for guests.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

–        Local history as it applies to the Riordan Mansion State Historic Park and Pioneer Museum.

–        Museum’s rules.

–        General office procedures and use of computer.

–        Grounds and facilities maintenance.

–        Motor vehicle operation and repair.

Skill in:

–        Customer service and information dissemination.

–        Written and verbal communication.

–        Computer systems, internet applications and making reservations.

–        Basic practices and techniques in the maintenance and upkeep of facilities and grounds.

–        General Construction techniques including plumbing, wood working and electrical.

–        Driving, operating and maintaining automotive equipment.

–        Interpersonal relationships.

Ability to:

–        Pass post offer physical exam.

–        Retain a current, valid state driver’s license.

–        Work weekends, holidays, and a variety of daily shifts.

–        Work in extreme temperatures.

–        Work outdoors.

–        Stand, walk and climb stairs for the majority of assigned work shift.

–        Understand and apply park rules and collect park fees.

–        Operate communications equipment.

–        Communicate with the public in a positive, professional manner under both friendly and intense circumstance.

–        Use computer systems and internet applications to make reservations using agency web-based reservation systems.

–        Work as a team member.

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

–        Experience working with public programming.

–        Experience working with volunteers.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

–        Valid Driver’s License; Posses or ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

–        Post offer physical exam.
